Do you have any idea what one of the most popular marketing methods is these days? If you said memory sticks, then you’d be right on the money. Memory sticks seem to be one of the promotional items that are not only in high demand now, but will be for the foreseeable future. You can insert a memory stick into your home, office or public computer. As with all things that are popular, there are cheap counterfeits smothering the market; you will often come across a ridiculously cheap memory stick, which is quite simply a fake. Or, another scam is to dress up inferior memory sticks as something they are not (for instance a higher GB) and sell the fakes at a higher price.

If you wish to use memory sticks in a business promotion, you need to be wary and avoid such counterfeits, despite the fact that you are tempted to go with the least expensive option available.

There is something to be said however for the old saying,” You get what you pay for.” If you’re offered cheap memory sticks, then chances are they are cheap for a reason. Promotional memory sticks So, buyer beware. When you are deciding which memory sticks to go for, do your homework. It can be difficult to tell the difference between questionable and good quality memory sticks. You will find the majority of low quality memory sticks use recycled memory chips, or those that are B grade. While that might sound like the “green” thing to do, re-cycled doesn’t mean fixed and re-cycled, it means salvaged and but back into use and they don’t work properly. For example they tend to read/write at a lower speed, or may have even tanked out when it came to a Quality Assurance test.

We already mentioned this sneaky scam, but it bears repeating because it “is” so sneaky, thus making it harder to spot. You may also unwittingly be purchasing memory sticks that have been made to look larger than they are.

For example the packaging will claim 2GB. When it’s connected to a PC it will look like it has 2GB of storage, but really only has maybe 512MB.

The “bait and switch” tactic is not uncommon. Often, smaller capacity memory sticks are packaged and labeled , at the factory, as something they are not.

Reputable manufacturers use quality components and easily recognizable brand names such as Sony, Intel or SanDisk. It is true, brand name memory sticks fetch higher prices. So if you think that is what you are getting, you will happily fork over more cash.

However, you can really only hope that the trust you’re placing in your supplier is not being taken for granted. The only way to find out if they have the correct components, or not, is to open up an individual memory stick. It’s more trouble than its worth. What’s the solution? Ask for references, customer testimonials, or reviews. Purchase your memory sticks from honest dealers. 2gb memory stick
