What To Look For In A LEGO Set

Quite a few American adults have pleasant memories of having fun with a LEGO building set as a child. We spend many afternoons constructing citadels, bungalows and vehicles, and some relative kids remember a couple of jedi fighters and fire-breathing dragons that we were able to use to populate our fabricated worlds. If your kids are now getting close to the age at which LEGO Building Blocks can be on their Christmas lists, you will probably be amazed at some of the imaginative ways which are currently available to put those aged plastic bricks to use. Another nice option is the Playseats Evolution Gaming Seat.

It is usually best to begin at the beginning when telling a story, consequently that is exactly what we will do. The Lego Group is a privately held corporation which has operated from Billund, Denmark since 1932. Ole Kirk Christiansen founded a carpenter shop which constructed, in addition to other things, ironing boards, stools and toy ducks  The company adopted the name “LEGO” in 1934. This name is a blend of the two Danish words “leg godt” meaning “play well”. Throughout the 30s and 40s, LEGO got to be more devoted to the wooden toy business, and began producing plastic toys too, like their “binding brick” which came with four or six studs. As of 1958, the LEGO brick most of us are familiar with was released to the market.

The brick soon evolved into the core of the LEGO Group and today, 80 years since the duck, the earth’s fifth-largest seller of toys continues to be based in the marginally more substantial village of Billund, and retails its building sets throughout 130 countries.  LEGO is currently targeted on making and marketing toys that increase creativity. Obviously, though, a few building sets support greater levels of creativity than others. Another great product to consider is the Playseats Evolution Gaming Seat.

LEGO now advertizes movie-themed product lines such as Toy Story and Thomas & Friends. Due to the distinct characters and models which comprise these sets, many of them might only be used in specific ways; as an illustration, certain spaceship parts aren’t really appropriate for alternative uses. If you will be fine with your child producing a set according to instructions and then basically playing with the characters, these collections should meet your expectations.

If you feel the need to challenge your child’s creativeness and building skills a little more, LEGO has less specialized collections like Castle or Technic. These can help your child to enjoy more control with regard to what the “finished” product should look like. Not surprisingly, the Duplo sets for toddlers are all of this more generic character.

LEGO building sets are offered at virtually all national discount stores and toy stores. You can pick up a Duplo Fire Chief with his Vehicle for close to $10, or you might acquire the Death Star playset for just under $400. Another good alternative is the Playseats Evolution Gaming Seat.
