We speculated last week that Blizzard would finally answer gamers' prayers and launch a new Diablo game and, I'm happy to report, that the company has done just that.

At its Worldwide Invitational in Paris this weekend, Blizzard unveiled Diablo III, complete with the trailer above and a gameplay video below. Game designer Jay Wilson talked through some demos and the new features, claiming that the new game is "so simple that you can play it with just the mouse". Part of that includes the new, smaller interface bar and the addition of quick skills to the mouse wheel and Tab key.

"We've wanted to expand on the epic story and gameplay elements of the Diablo universe for some time now," stated Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "We know that players have also been long awaiting a return to the series, so we're very excited to be sharing this announcement with Blizzard gamers here in Paris and around the world today."
