DeathAdder Mouse For A Fragging Great Christmas

razer-deathadder.jpg
Any mouse with a name like DeathAdder has to be pretty cool. Coming from gamer mouse specialist, Razer, then it probably it is.

Christmas, or Fragathon – as it is better known in some gaming cults, it the Frag Fest of the year. If you’re not in school, then it’s the single longest break you will get from work all year, without destroying those precious 25 days of allowable holiday.

The DeathAdder is wireless – super-duper 3G infrared, no less- , offers up to 1,800 dpi resolution, a 1000Hz Ultrapolling, and a speedy 1ms response time – which is probably way faster than your own reactions anyway. If you want that flag, you might just deserve one of these in your Christmas stocking.

Expect to pay around £40. Read more here. – Martin Lynch

Chill Out With The ‘Thaw’ Ice Candle Holder

mathmos thaw.jpg
Mixing fire and ice might be good in a song or the recipe for a fiery relationship but I would have thought the two couldn’t possibly be combined to make a good candle.

Mathmos, makers of the iconic Lava lamps that most of us have tripped out to or passed out under at least once in our lives, begs to differ. It thinks the two go very well in its latest gizmo, Thaw. It’s a tea light candle holder that diffuses the light from the candle through the ice as it melts. Again, you’ll be looking at some interesting patterns, albeit we suspect on a smaller scale than the Lava lamp. Here’s how it works:

“Fill the silicone mould with water, and place in the freezer overnight. Then pull back the mould to reveal the perfectly frozen, rounded ice shade for the tea light. Place the silicone mould back into the polished steel base, and sit the candle and ice shade on top.”

The ice takes around 3 hours to fully melt once the candle is fired up.

Christmas romantics can have it for £24 here but stoners should stick with the Lava lamp.-Martin Lynch

Archos ‘Strap-On’ Camcorder For Extreme Sports

archos helmet camcorder.jpg I already love Archos and I’m not afraid to say that I would love them even more if they would send me a few of their products for Christmas. The noble art of bribing journalists is just not what it used to be.

Meet the Archos Helmet Camcorder – that’s the little thing on the right of the photo that looks like James Bond’s torch/flamethrower. Designed for anyone that does extreme sports, this is possibly the best way to capture the thrill of the moment. Strap it onto your helmet and jump off that cliff, or bridge, or whatever is likely to scare the crap out of you. It’s compatible with most of the Archos portable media players and will cost £100 when it comes out later this month.

It even sports an in-built microphone so that you can relive that moment when your voice broke and you started screaming like a girl.

Impressive specs for such a small device – check them out after the jump.-Martin Lynch
