Retro Rolleiflex Camera Gets Digital Revamp

rollei.jpg

This beautiful Rolleiflex camera, based on a 1920s design from German camera maker Rollei, might look like an antique but it’s a fully working 5MP digital camera.

Underneath the classic looks, this small modern version of the classic Rollei 6×6cm Twin Reflex Camera, has aufo-focus and a very cool up-facing 1.1in LCD display so that you can look down and take photos like the professionals from waist level. Apparently it helps keeps the subjects more relaxed.

Hasselblad’s 50MP Digital Camera: Takes Stunning Photos - Nukes Your Bank Account

hassalbrad 50mp camera.jpg

We’ve covered quite a few professional digital cameras, many of which top out at somewhere between 12MP and 25MP, meaning most professionals are content with this level of resolution.

Camera maker Hassalblad though thinks why stop there when you can create a digital camera with a 50MP resolution. The H3DII-50 uses Kodak’s 50MP 36×48mm sensor which is twice the physical size of the largest 35mm DSLR sensors in use.

Optoma To Be First With Tiny DLP Projector

optoma pico projector.jpg
We have covered our fair share of tiny - or pico - projectors here on Gizmodo but to date, most of it has be a bit foggy over who will deliver what, and when.

Now, it looks like projector house, Optoma, will be the first out the door with a real product based on Texas Instruments’ mini-DLP technology, DLP Pico. You can see an early demo of DLP Pico technology here.

The miniature standalone projector - which you can see above - weighs just 4ozs and will go on limited sale in Europe and Asia at the end of this year with a full rollout in early 2009. The Optoma Pico will be able to project images up to “100 times larger” than you’d see on source devices like iPods, smart phones, and digital cameras. Great fun at parties and very handy for those that present a lot for work.

Optoma’s director of product management, Jon Grodem, commented:

Turn Your Favourite Photos Into Wallpaper

The problem with digital cameras is that we all have too many damn photos that never get printed or even transferred to digital photo frames. And in that lot we sometimes - just sometimes - manage to capture a person or place perfectly and wish that we could make more off it.
As long as [...]
