iRiver Back Waving A Gold Mickey

I thought the first iRiver MP3 player based on Disney’s Mickey Mouse was fugly but they obviously feel they are still onto a winner because now they’ve gone and dipped it in gold.
This ‘limited edition’ Mickey Mouse MP3 player, or Mplayer, is designed for pre-school yard pimps that still wear their Disney [...]

Wireless For Sound: Revo Blik WiFi Radio

revo blik.jpg The humble radio has seen a lot of changes in recent years and that transformation continues with the arrival of the Revo Blik WiFI Radio.

For under £100, you get a well made WiFi radio with access to over 8,000 radio stations, an FM tuner, iPod/MP3 player connectivity and the ability to stream music from your PC or laptop.

Stations can be searched by genre or country and if 8,000+ aren’t enough to keep you happy, you need help. Being Wi-Fi-enabled means you don’t even have to have it attached to your PC, just within range of your wireless router.

There’s a large LCD, plenty of presets, an Alarm and Snooze function and a remote control so that you don’t have to make too much of an effort. You can buy it here in black or white but, if you want some more information, check out a decent review of it here.-Martin Lynch

LG’s Washing Machine Has an iPod Dock

Of all the things that we’ve seen an iPod dock stuck onto, this washing machine is probably the worst. LG’s patent for a “Home appliance with MP3 player” loads a dock for the iPod/Zune on the top along with speakers and what looks like a powerline networking adapter with a slot for a USB port.

We’re not sure how useful this is—who spends all 40 minutes of the cycle standing in front of the washer?—but LG apparently has other ideas in mind. Oh crap, that reminds us that we left a wet load in the washer last night! – Jason Chen

ASDA Dumps CD Singles: About Time

asda.jpg I thought CD singles were long dead but then I remembered that lots of young people are still stupid and pay £2-3 for a single track from the latest pre-pubescent teen princess, jumped up soapstar and boy-girl porn-bands.

Well, ASDA has had enough because it’s dumping CD singles, blaming Internet downloads. Downloads accounted for almost 80 per cent of sales in 2006. Tesco dropped them two months ago. Speaking to the Beeb, ASDA music buyer Andy Powell said:

“We’re reluctantly saying goodbye to one of the most important products in music history.”

Yeah right. The CD was great for albums but CD singles were always a con. Woolworths could be next to ditch the expensive Frisbees although it’s denying any such plan. At least until next month.-Martin Lynch

Samsung 8GB Cell Phone Memory Card Will Let You Store All the Rocky Movies on Your Mobile

Samsung says it has developed the world’s largest microSD memory card. At 8GB, the fingernail-sized card can store 2,000 MP3 files, 4,000 digital photos or around five DVD-quality movies. With a read speed of 16 MB/s and a write speed of 6MB/s, the 8GB memory card is one-and-a-half times faster than the Speed Class 4 SDHC standard. Jump for more.

Up until now, SD cards have mainly been used for storing data in digital cameras and TVs. The MicroSD version is a quarter of the size of its big brother and, if used with an extender, can allow any files downloaded via your mobile to be played on any other media device which uses an SD card. – Ad Dugdale

mustek_gps_200.jpg

You don’t need to hear the call of the cuckoo, get sunburned or check the calendar to know when Spring/summer is in the air. Just check the newswires for new sat-nav launches. You can’t avoid them at the moment, as people plan those summer road-trips.

In recent weeks, we’ve had the £100 sat-nav from Maplin, the Google Earth-equipped device from Medion and the biker-friendly TomTom Rider.

Now, Mustek wants in on the scene with its reasonably priced GPS 200. It’s no looker, let’s be honest, but it does have a large 4.2 in screen, MP3/video player, car charge kit and a price tag of around £170.

Here’s the full feature list:

Centrality Processor at 200 MHz
SD/MMC Port
